About Me

Hi, I am Hongbo Chen (陈宏博). I acquired my Ph.D. degree in ShanghaiTech University and University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. I was affiliated to School of Information Science and Technology (SIST). My Ph.D. supervisor is Dr. Rui Zheng. I visited Department of Radiology & Diagnostic Imaging in University of Alberta from July 2022 to Octorber 2023, supervised by Dr. Lawrence H Le , Dr. Edmond Lou and Dr. Kumaradevan Punithakumar. Before joining ShanghaiTech, I received a B.S. in Changchun University of Science and Technology, where I affiliated to School of Electronic Information Engineering and worked in National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Electrical and Electronics.

My research interests include 3D reconstruction and scene representation, statistical shape modeling, AI-based medical image analysis - segmentation/detection, biomedical ultrasound imaging and diagnosis. During my PhD project, I have focused on the development of 3D reconstruction algorithms and intelligent diagnostic platforms. These algorithms and platforms have been successfully applied to freehand 3D ultrasound imaging for various anatomical structures, including the carotid artery, spine, and teeth, demonstrating significant potential in enhancing diagnostic accuracy and efficiency in biomedical ultrasound imaging and diagnosis.
